Etech,Inc looks for Nationwide Expansion

Gandhinagar based business process outsourcing company, Etech, Inc. (formerly known as Effective Teleservices, Inc) has now set its yes on horinons beyond the state.

The company which has had offices only in Gandhinagar and Vadodara so far is now planning to expand its business to seven cities across the country.

These include Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Chennai, Banglore and Hydrabad.

The company is also planning to increase its seating capacity from 675 to more than couple of thousands by 2009.

“We want to expand our units in Gujarat and in seven other regions across the country. We have invested around Rs 1.5 crore for our set up in Thane which is now almost ready for operations. Initially, we would launch a pilot project with a 250 seated setup, and then gradually look for further expansion,” said director of operations, effective Teleservices, a division of Etech, Inc, Brandon chambers.

The company currently employs some 675 people, of which 80 are at its Vadodara centre while the rest are in Gandhinagar.

“W would be recruiting another 100 employees for our Gandhinagar and Vadodara centers,” said Chambers. According to Chambers, Etech Inc is Gujarat’s largest BPO unit with revenue of $6.75 million (Rs 27.3 crore) in 2006-07. The company is targeting revenues of around $9.8 million (Rs 40 crore) for 2007-08.

The company is also planning to acquire Infocity’s Info Tower-4

Even as Gujarat is thinking strides in the IT sector 15-16 new offshore companies have shown interest in Infocity and have signed MoUs worth Rs 300-500 crore with it.

The investments are directed towards Infocity Tower 3 and 4 and the funds form these companies would flow in by the end of 2008.

“At present, over 40 companies are operational in Infocity Tower-1 and 2 having about 11,000 employees. The new companies with help generate employment” for another 10,000 IT professionals.” Said director. Creative Infocity Ltd, Hiten Barot.

Need for space

Investment directed towards Infocity tower-3 and 415-16 IT companies have signed MoUsCompanies demand area to the tune of eight lakh sq ft MoUs sined for four lakh sq ft

The US and UK based IT companies have asked for eight lakh sq ft area of which MoUs for 4lakh sq ft area have been signed for InfoTower 3(1.5 lakh sq ft) and Tower-4 (2.5 lakh sq ft). Going by the MoUs. The companies will have to pay the entire amount when they take possession.

The contract duration with be between six and nine years.

Barot said preference would be given to the existing companies such as TCS and Effective Telexervices in case they demand space in the proposed projects in Tower-3 and 4.

Meanwhile Effective Teleservices has already evinced interest in the entire Tower-4. However, and Infocity is yet to take a decision on the proposal.
